Music & Art :: Sat 10/22 11am-2pm :: Marin Country Mart Farmer's Market

Nkechi Live! Music + Art

11am - 2pm Saturday, October 22nd 2011 at
Marin Country Mart Farmer's Market

http://www.marincountrymart.com

Please join me this Saturday October 22nd at Marin Country Mart (MCM) Farmer's Market where I'll be playing a few sets of original live music from 11am to 2pm with a few good friends and displaying some inspirations in art. I'm not quite calling myself a painter yet, but I'm pretty excited about what happens upon putting paintbrush to paper.  For now my theme is hearts.

Bring yourself and your family and tell your friends about it, too. The Marin Country Mart Farmer's Market happens every Saturday 9am-2pm rain or shine and it offers lots of activities for the whole family including story telling for kids at 10am.  Personally I'm looking forward to sampling the organic produce and allowing this open air experience to inspire new installations of music and art.

Be Blessed,
Nkechi

Happy Independence Day 2011 & Seussical, the Musical 7/9 - 8/14

Blessed

Friends & Family

Happy Independance Day!

It was around Father's Day almost a year ago when I sent my last blog/e-mail blast.  Yup, almost a year.

Since then by a combination of coincidences and grace I have slowed down considerably .. Yup, really.

I was thrust into opportunities to develop more intimacy with God, the source of my creativity, my Nigerian and American families and heritages, the inspiration of my creativity, and myself.

I discovered.

Making Music is My Ministry

It was surprising to come to the same conclusion that has spurred me on for the past few years, but I suppose I had to get out of the driver's seat to catch more of the view.

So what have I been up to?

Over the past year I have performed in a Rock Opera, started attending Bible College, completed a 9 month internship to become a certified interventionist, have performed music or acted in film and theater in a few great venues for a few great causes including Berkeley Playhouse's upcoming Seussical, the Musical and have travelled from Nicaragua to Toronto to Israel to Nigeria for a mixture of inspirations on which I will elaborate at a later time.

I re-discovered

I am proud to be an American Nigerian

After exercising my freedoms to take classes and travel.
I hope to never take my freedom in our country for granted

May you have a Blessed Time with Family and Friends this Independence Day.

I am next performing as a Bird Girl and Fish in Seussical the Musical with Berkeley Playhouse from July 9th to August 14th at Julia Morgan Center for the Arts, 2640 College Ave, Berkeley, CA.

Last time, Seussical, the Musical with Berkeley Playhouse sold out quickly.

I loved peforming with them Berkeley Playhouse then and I am especially loving it now. I'll send more info on the show later, but for now if you'd like to get first dibs and a discount on tickets, follow this link http://www.berkeleyplayhouse.org and e-mail me through www.nkechi.com if you'd like a friends and family discount.
More Show details are available on my website http://www.nkechi.com and website calendar http://www.nkechi.com/calendar

Despite my resistance to dive fully into these social media forums fully, I actively twitter http://www.twitter.com/nkechi and do have the beginnings of an Nkechi Live Fan Page, so please feel free to "Like" me, write me and/or connect with me via social media. I look forward to updating you via e-mail as the timing becomes appropriate on my upcoming creative activities.

nkechi live! :: Have Guitar, Will Travel :: TODAY 7/11 & Other Experiences & Dates

Blessed Friends!

Have Guitar, Will Travel.  Below are some show dates for today 7/11 and then more dates in July, August, & September.  But first I'd like to share an experience.

A few days ago I experienced the most exquisite joy of placing a pair of shoes onto the feet of a homeless woman from the Tenderloin. She miraculously appeared as I was parking my car preparing to perform in Abigail, the Rock Opera.  She also needed food and I gave her what I had. Over the July 4th holiday I had the blessing of traveling and performing in a wonderful play with a few good actor's in San Antonio and then ended that week in visiting loved ones and family in LA.

As I write this e-mail, to this moment I still feel that the glow of this homeless woman's smile as I put one of the many shoes strewn about my car on her feet is the highlight of my year.   I pray for more opportunities to give away that which has been so graciously given to me.  The day to day business of my life sometimes does not make this easy, but living in San Francisco offers me so many opportunities. She like me lives in San Francisco. I am honored today to be able to support her community by playing music for an event in the Tenderloin.

For now the opportunities to give that come my way are to play music in support of a few good friends and their causes.  Here's a list of what I am up to today ( a lot) and over the next few months.  I appreciate all support, cheers, and blessings you muster my way. And most importantly I am so trememndously grateful for all opportunities to play music.  I am also so grateful to all of you who read and comment on these e-mails as it encourage me to continue to pursue my heights of my hearts love and delight in creativity.  Be Blessed in Your Day.

Happy Father's Day :: More Nkechi Live Music in June :-)

Happy Father's Day!

I am delighted to celebrate Father's Day with you.  By the time you get this you may be well into or well past your father's day activities.  May your day and all days be blessed!  I know we are all linked in one way or another to someone who is our father, a father, or who filled the role of father for us during the course of our life.  May we remember and honor them as best we can today :-)

My father passed on 9/14/2001 which to put it mildly it was a significant loss.  It began a journey that has anchored me deeper into my spirituality and thus inspired me to pursue a deeper relationship with God my Eternal Father.  With the loss of my earthly father came a sound of music from within my soul and from then on .. actually after few years .. and then from then on with repeated surrenders to this Truth .. I am grateful for all opportunities laid in my path to express my myself through music and written song.

So again Happy Father's Day.  Today I celebrate all fathers, on earth and in Heaven!

NEWS ABOUT SHOWS::
Now, at the beginning of the month I sent an e-mail letting you know I was singing 7 shows in June.  Well it looks like the sum total will be 10 shows by the end of the month, but who's counting?

Yesterday I performed music at the delightful Laurel Street Summer Solstice Festival.  It was a sweet experience to notice all the dad's in various forms of doting on or being doted on by their loved ones.  My station was Monique's Clozet  and I had to restrain myself from moving in.  Her designer clothing on consignment are a must see.  Seeing is believing http://www.moniquesclozet.com.  The other merchants can be found at  http://www.laureldistrictassociation.com

SUNDAY, June 20th @ 2 PM

TODAY, Sunday 6/20, Father's Day I will be playing music for James Keys who is running for Supervisor for District 6 in San Francisco.  I choose not be a political person and usually chose to abstain from all debates.  However, whenever I am asked to play music it gives me an opportunity to learn a liittle about new things.  So far I am inspired by my research on James Keys. I am inspired that he is advocating for Laura's Law and am grateful he presently serves as the chair of the San Francisco Mental Health Board (MHB).  They are throwing a James Keys campaign party.  I will be playing at 2pm following a Haitian Band called Majestic who plays at 12noon.  Here are the Details:

Sunday, June 20, 2010
James Keys Campaign Party
1244 Northpoint Apt. A
Treasure Island - SF, CA 94130
http://www.jameskeysdistrict6.com

Music Starts at 12pm Majestic - local Haitian band
& 2 pm Nkechi Live - organic soul singer/songwriter

So at 2pm today this Father's Day I will sing songs from the heart and I am so looking forward to it.  Stop by or send a well wish if you like.

SUNDAY, June 27, 2010
Lastly I am presently on hold for a gig on June 27th who knows which way it will go, but I'll send you details as soon as I am confirmed.
